Training Program on AIDS/HIV Awareness

One-day training program on AIDS/HIV awareness at CMO OFFICE Hamirpur. Three students and one Nodal officer from career point university Hamirpur attend the training program at the Hamirpur CMO office. Dr. Suneel Verma (District AIDS Program Officer Hamirpur) was the resource person. His presentation was on the “Implementation of National AIDS Control Program in Himachal Pradesh & Hamirpur district. He also said that National AIDS & STD
control program (NACP) was launched in 1992. NACP is having five phases:
(I) First Phase (1992 to 1999)
(II) Second Phase(1999-2007)
(III) Third Phase (2007-2012)
(IV) Fourth Phase(2012-2017)
(V) Fourth Phase Extension(2017-2021)
(VI) Fifth Phase(2021-2026)
The fifth phase goal is that by the end of 2030 end off AIDS epidemic as a Public Health Threat.SDC gaol 3 Target 3.3 NACPP-V-Goal by 2025-2026 to reduce annual New HIV infection and AIDS-related death by 80%. The target for NACP Phase-V: To Promote Universal access to quality STI/RTI services to at-risk
and vulnerable populations. Himachal Pradesh is having low prevalence rate. Which 4683 HIV patients on ART
(antiretroviral therapy). The estimated CLHIV rate is 204. Adult prevalence is 0.12%. Where In India 23.48 lakh HIV patients are on ART. Whereas the Adult prevalence rate is 0.7 %. Approx 22lakh people are infected in INDIA. Over 86% reported infection in are most productive age group 15-49 years.36% of HIV patients reported a loss of employment. Household income decreases by 66% when HIV Patients not working. National Helpline for free information on HIV/AIDS is 1097.Where the Information of the caller is kept confidential.Various social media platforms for free information
related to HICV/AIDS i.e. Twitter, YouTube, and FB page. NACO AIDS application new application launched by the Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare Govt. of India’s digital platform for accessing correct information about HIV/AIDS & related services in 2016 on 1st December on AIDS day.
Four Prolonged strategies by ICTC:
(i) Primary prevention of HIV.
(ii) Prevent Unintended Pregnancies.
(iii) Prevention of MTCT.

(iv) Care support and treatment.
In Himachal Pradesh STI/RTI Program:
(i) SURAKSHA clinic
(ii) Expert Counselor
(iii) Sexually Transmitted infection is completely curable.
Care and support & Treatment Govt. of Himachal Pradesh provide various facilities like:
(i) ART center and link ART center for free medicines
(ii) Increases the life span of HIV patients.
(iii) Reimburse bus travel to all HIV patients and their one companion
