Intellectual Property Rights Cell (IPRC) is an important organ of higher education institutions, as it protects the Intellectual Property (IP) of stakeholders created through research and development in different forms like copyright, patent, design, trademark etc. The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell has been established in the Career Point University under the sanction and sponsorship of HIMCOSTE via letter dated 25.03.2022. IPR Cell of CPUH works in collaboration of HP Patent Information Centre of HIMCOSTE. The Patent, copyright and other IP filing facility is provided to IPR Cell by HIMCOSTE. Since its establishment in 2022, the IPR Cell has been working successfully in the terms of patent filling, patent grants and IPR awareness programs.
The mission of IPR cell established at CPUH is to create awareness and provide guidance to teaching and non-teaching staff, scholars and researchers on the practices and the rules of institute regarding intellectual property rights and obligations within the frame work of the IPR policy of the institute.
The scope of IPR is not just limited to science and technology but all faculties on the campus such as Humanities, Commerce and Management, Information Technology etc. In view of this and considering the importance of formally protecting the intellectual property of the teachers, staff and students, the university has established IPR cell. The importance of IPR for universities has been highlighted through its weightage in NIRF ranking, NAAC, and NBA accreditation process.
The purpose of the IPR cell is to facilitate, encourage, promote various schemes and projects offered by HIMCOSTE SHIMLA. IPR CELL is continuously working together with HIMCOSTE so that maximum benefit can be conferred on the researchers and faculty members in the field of research and innovation viz-viz intellectual property rights. IPR cell conducts activities to provide a clear understanding of the rights and responsibilities of the faculty, staff, and students to protect their IP’s generated through research work. The IPR cell ensures the speedy processing and filling of applications for patents, designs, copyrights etc.
The journey of IPR Cell has been a story of hardwork and success. Starting from IPR CELL university level, in 2019 via the order of Vice chancellor. The IPR Cell has as a first major step started with framing IPR Policy of university and getting its approval by the esteemed authorities of the university. After a long hardwork, The IPR CELL has been re-estabilshed under HIMCOSTE, Shimla in 2022.Since its formation the IPR Cell has been constantly working for creating awareness among faculty and students for patent filing. On 26th September, 2023 MOU was signed between Rajat Nishant Biotechnology Pvt Limited for enhance research related practices and for training programmes of the students.The IPR Cell has good record of 40 plus patents published and granted from researchers and faculty members in various fields since its formation. IPR Cell is dedicated to provide continuous assistance in IPR protection. State funded projects are being shared with faculty members and researchers on regular basis and further assistance is being provided to them for further implementation.
The IPR cell at our institute embodies a diversified representation from various sectors,ensuring a holistic approach to patent drafting,designing & filing.
Presently IPR CELL consists of three members, constituted as following via notification No. CPUH/IPR/2024-901-950 dated 19.10.2024.
Coordinator
Dr Anjana Devi, serving as Coordinator of IPR cell & Associate Professor Deaprtment of Pharmacy brings excellence with her experience in industry as well as academic institutions. She has extensive experience of more than 12 years in Pharmaceutical industry, research and academia. She hold a Ph.D, in Pharmacy from Shobhit University, Gangoh, Sarahanpur. She is expertise in formulation and development of drugs. She is Author of more than 03 books, she is more than 55 research paper, review articles in National and International Journal. She has published 11 Patent. She has organised & attended more than 65 Seminars, EDP ,FDP, Conferences, Workshops. She is life time membership of APTI & SPER. She is Presently Supervising 06 Ph.D and 03 Ph.D are awarded in year 2024 and 06 M. Pharmacy.
Assistant coordinator
Dr. Manu Sharma is serving as Assistant coordinator at IPR Cell of Career Point University Hamirpur. She has extensive experience of 12 years in research and academia. She hold a Ph.D, in Law from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. She is expertise in Intellectual property laws, constitutional law, human rights and criminal laws. She has numerous research publications with national and international publications.
Assistant coordinator
Dr Rolika Gupta is a highly motivated and biotechnology professional with a strong academic background in plant tissue culture and microbiology, holding a Ph.D. degree in Plant Biotechnology from Jaypee University of Information Technology, Waknaghat, India. She is currently working as Assistant Professor in Career Point University, Hamirpur. Her expertise lies in in-vitro technologies for the production of bioactive compounds, cryopreservation of medicinal herbs and green synthesis of nanoparticles using medicinal plants. She has also demonstrated a keen interest in optimizing nutrient media conditions for the continuous production of shoot biomass enriched in major medicinal constituents. With a passion for research, she has conducted extensive study in the field of medicinal herbs of Himalayan Region, leading to several national and international publications. She has supervised ten M.Sc. Projects and is currently supervising four Ph.D. students.
